Cinema & Psychic - The Electric Body

Desire, body and belonging

A Psychiatrist + Gay Nerd partnership.

Where does the body that works end and starts the body that you want? Cinema & Psychic presents Electrical Body, by Marcelo Caetano, followed by a conversation about desire, sexuality, identity, work and belonging, topics that the film addresses without turning their characters into diagnoses or their relationships into easy explanations.

Elias is a young man who works as an assistant at a clothing factory in São Paulo. As the summer approaches, the everyday life of the factory begins to mix more and more with nights, meetings, friendship and wishes. Between sewing machines, bars, streets, parties and bodies, the film follows characters who build their own forms of affection and community.

Electric Body looks at the LGBTQIA+ experience from a interesting perspective: life does not appear reduced to the conflict of sexual identity. There is desire, but there is also work. There is sex, but there is friendship. There is precariousness, but also pleasure. There is loneliness and, at the same time, the possibility of inventing new families and new ways of belonging.
